CULTURAL HERITAGE CONSERVATION MEETING HELD IN ARGENTINA

(VELINO) Roma, 20 Mar - The third international Meeting forPreventive Conservation of Cultural Heritage, which began onMar. 16, concludes on Friday in Buenos Aires. There werevarious speakers at the event, including art conservationistProfessor Oriana Sartiani, who spoke on: "The restoration ofBronzino's crucified Christ of the Muse'e des Beaux-Arts inNice". The academic, a member of the Opificio delle Pietre Dure(Workshop of semi-precious stones), in Florence, presented thetechniques used in the restoration of one of Bronzino's mostimportant paintings. The event was supported by the localItalian Cultural Institute as one of the initiatives for theYear of Italy in Latin America, one of whose aims is to promotethe spread of Italian Cultural Heritage. The project issponsored by the Foreign Ministry in partnership with theministries of Culture and Tourism, Economic Development, theItalian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), the Conference ofRectors of Italian Universities and with the contribution ofmany companies. Over the next 12 months approximately 200events will showcase the cultural, economic, scientific andtechnological strengths of contemporary Italy. The primary goalof this ambitious and complex project is to promote Italy'sidentity and talents in Latin America. vel.
