CROATIA OPENS NEW SEAT OF ITALIAN COMMUNITY IN VIZINADA

(VELINO) Roma, 16 Dec - The new seat of the Italian Communityin Vizinada, Croatia, has been inaugurated by ItalianAmbassador Emanuela D'Alessandro, Consul Renato Cianfarani andCroatian President Ivo Josipovic. In his address, PresidentJosipovic emphasised the excellent relationship between Italyand Croatia and the close ties between the Croatian Presidentand Italian President Giorgio Napolitano, who stays in closecontact with Italians living in Croatia. Josipovic pointed outthat Istria, the peninsula on which Vizinada is located, is aprime example of coexistence, friendship and cooperation forthe whole of Croatia. Ambassador D'Alessandro mentioned thesupport given by Italian institutions to Italians living inCroatia, particularly in education, and their role inmaintaining Italy's cultural identity. He also thankedPresident Josipovic for his closeness to the Italians, whosepresence adds to Croatia's multicultural identity and itsopenness to the needs of all citizens, and for the supportgiven to the Italian minority by Croatian institutions as well,similar to Italy's support for the Croatian minority in Italy. vel.
