(AGI) Geneva, March 17 - There was a boom in African and AsianYoung Global Leaders (YGL) this year at the World EconomicForum. They include ballet dancer Roberto Bolle, financier andCEO of Algebris Investments, David Serra, the founder ofeLabEurope, Alberto Alemanno, and the Vice President of Eniwith delegated powers for Institutional Affairs, PasqualeSalzano. The ranking of young under-40 leaders who "shape thefuture of industry and society" has been published for 10 yearsby the prestigious World Economic Forum organisation which hasbecome famous worldwide for the Davos Forum. Many areAsian: 23 from East Asia, 17 from China and 19 from South-EastAsia, plus 40 Europeans, 44 North Americans, 13 LatinAmericans, 17 from Sub-Saharan Africa and 15 from the MiddleEast. There are 22 Italians. The most outstanding in thelist include Ashis Goyal, the first blind trader at J P Morgan,Afghan business woman Roya Mahboob, Smiriti Irani, the youngestmember of Indian Prime Minister Modi's cabinet, Safak Pavey,the first disabled person to be elected to the TurkishParliament and Naomi Makeka, the first woman to become a mayorin Japan. "The YGLs include the world's most pioneering,next-generation leaders who have developed to produce positive,tangible impacts in their countries, industries and societies,"said John Dutton, Director and head of the Young Global LeadersCommunity at the World Economic Forum. There are many women onthe list, forming 50 percent. "The class of 2015, together withthe community over the past 10 years, shows how the future ofbusiness and public leadership is becoming more geographicallydiverse, more varied in its expertise, more gender-equal, andis challenging established ways to get things done," said MrDutton. The past rankings of famous people include BritishPrime Minister David Cameron, Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer andItalian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who was listed among theYGL of 2012, when he was mayor of Florence.
