(VELINO) Roma, 8 Oct - "Blue Sea Land - Expo of Food Districtsof the Mediterranean, Africa and the Middle East" is the nameof an initiative organised by COSVAP - the Fisheries Districtof Mazara del Vallo, in association with Sicily Region, theChamber of Commerce of Trapani, Sicily ANCI (NationalAssociation of Italian Municipalities) and the employers'organisation Confindustria Sicilia, and sponsored by theForeign Ministry. It is being held in Palermo and Mazara delVallo from Oct. 8 to 11. The event, now in its fourth edition,is divided into multi-cultural exhibition, meetings, seminarsand debates. Vincenzo De Luca, Central Director for theInternationalisation of the country-system of the ItalianForeign Ministry is participating in proceedings. The aim ofthe event is to aggregate the agro - fish - food productiondistricts of the participating countries, to strengthenrelations of cooperation and promote the necessary economic, social, institutional and cultural integration between thepeoples concerned, becoming part of the framework of the "BlueEconomy". The increase in the presence of businesses oninternational markets is a key to growth and development. As inthe rest of Italy, in Sicily over the past decade companiesoperating only on the domestic market have experienced somedecline in earnings, while those with an international vocationsaw consistent growth. It is increasingly necessary to growexports in part through increasing the number ofinternationalised companies and their degree ofinternationalisation. This is the concept behind "Blue SeaLand", which aims to act as a driving force in this process, with an eye towards the province of Trapani, which saw aconsiderable growth in trade in products related to fishfarming in the first half of 2015, with a 94 percent rise inexports and a 155 percent increase in imports over the sameperiod of 2014. vel.
