ARGENTINA, DIPLOMACY PASSES THROUGH VINTAGE CAR RACE

(VELINO) Roma, 19 Jun - The fourth edition of the "Vueltahistorica Felipe Caronti" vintage car race has finished in thecity of Bahia Blanca in southern Argentina. The race includedthe third "Italian Competition - The Consulate Cup". The race,part of this year's "Italian Week", set off like last year fromthe Italian consulate, opposite which was an exhibition of thecompeting cars. The event was organised by the Italian embassy,which is very active in the promotion of public diplomacyactivities, and a number of local associations. The competitionincluded around 40 vintage cars, divided into two categories:before and after the Second World War, ranging from the FiatTopolino and Ardita to the Lancia Aurelia, by way of the AlfaRomeo GT. Mercedes and Renault also presented models. The"Cup", one of the landmark events in the area for fans ofracing and design, is part of a broader range of projects thatthe consulate general has initiated in support of Italianindustrial excellence in southern Argentina. To this endseveral initiatives have been held ranging from an exhibitionof products Fiat at the consular office on the occasion ofEurope Day (an open day at the consulate) to a receptionorganised for Republic Day. vel.
