(VELINO) Roma, 21 Oct - Argentina is commemorating Pier PaoloPasolini on the 40th anniversary of his death. For theoccasion, the Italian Consulate in Rosario, in partnership with"El Cairo Cine Publico" and the Ministry of Innovation andCulture of the Province of Santa Fe, have presented a filmfestival devoted to the Italian director. The initiative is atribute to Pasolini the writer, to Pasolini the director,Pasolini the documentary maker and Pasolini the observer. Butabove all it is a tribute to the visionary, who managed to stayat the cutting edge while at the same time being timeless andeternally contemporary. The festival opened on Oct. 1 with thescreening of "Mamma Roma" and continued on Oct. 8 "Appunti perun'orestiade africana" ("Notes Towards an African Orestes"). OnOct. 15 it was the turn of "Uccellacci e uccellini" ("The Hawksand the Sparrows"), while "La commare secca" ("The GrimReaper") will be screened on Oct. 22. The festival willconclude on Oct. 29 with "La Rabbia di Pasolini" ("The Rage ofPasolini"). The initiative is part of the "Year of Italy inLatin America", sponsored by the Foreign Ministry inpartnership with the Ministries of Culture and Tourism,Economic Development, the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade(ICE), the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities andwith the contribution of many companies. Over the 12 monthsapproximately 200 events are showcasing the cultural, economic,scientific and technological strengths of contemporary Italy.The primary goal of this ambitious and complex project is topromote Italy's identity and talents in Latin America. vel.
