(VELINO) Roma, 18 Jun - A book called "The Presence of Italianson the Streets of the Province of Santiago" is to be launchedat the Italian Cultural Institute of Santiago on June 25. Theauthor said on the institute's website: "The reason I decidedto work on this book is to remind readers that the presence ofItalians may be found also on the streets, a place which tellsthe story of a city. Every street conceals events which shouldbe narrated not only to revere people or circumstances that arethe pride of a city or a country, but also to celebrate peopleor circumstances and remember them and our history. With thisbook I wish to remember with affection the lives of manyItalians who have become universally famous for their brilliantskills in the fields of knowledge, research or art, as well asthe Italians who migrated to this country and their offspringwho contributed to this land that welcomed them or became theirbirthplace." He said it is a homage to those Italians that inProvidencia managed to start a new life, and a homage also toChile, the country that welcomed them. Massone Stagno was bornin Santiago, and graduated in architecture at the University ofChile. He works with several institutions of the Italiancommunity in Chile to celebrate the memory of their Italianorigins and the events experienced by Italian migrants,especially those from Pieve.
