(AGI) Abu Dhabi, June 4 - The exhibition "Discover the OtherItaly", which opened in Abu Dhabi on Republic Day, aims toreveal an Italy that is well off the tourist trail but equallybeautiful. The exhibition, which runs until June 20, contains160 photos taken in every region of Italy, presenting the smallhidden gems of the Bel Paese. One of these is Civita diBagnoreggio, the favourite of Italian Ambassador GiorgioStarace, as he said at the opening when showing the picturetaken by Alessandro Anglisani. "Many Italian cities arefamous for their extraordinary architecture, rich history andincredible views", but "there is another Italy, less known butequally beautiful with hidden jewels just waiting to bediscovered", he said. In this direction, added the ambassador,help has come from the increased air connections between Italyand the UAE thanks to the recent alliance between Alitalia andEtihad and the exemption of visas to the Schengen area for theUAE. "In this exhibition we try to explain that Italy ismuch more than four or five places" such as Venice, Florence orRome, said curator, Lorenza Scalisi. "This is why we beganlooking for 20 photographers for 20 regions so that they couldgive expression to the area where they were born or chose tolive." On the eve of the opening, for Republic Day,Ambassador Starace held a reception in the embassy attended bySheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, andSheikha Lubna bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Minister of InternationalCooperation and Development.
