(AGI) Oslo, Nov 25 - Norway is focussing on the film directorsfrom the Old Continent. Alice Rohrwacher's 'Le Meraviglie' (TheWonders) opened Oslo's international film festival "Occupation:Director. The new generation of female directors in Europe".The yearly event is organised by the local EUNIC (EuropeanUnion National Institutes of Culture) presided over andcoordinated, this year, by the Italian office, aiming topinpoint the best European contemporary cinema productions,with a special focus on raising awareness of female directionin film making. Oslo and Bergen will showcase ten films by tenyoung directors which have not yet been released in Norwegiancinemas. Norwegians have been attracted by the presence of thewinner of the Grand Prix de Cannes, the Italian AliceRohrwacher, participating in the opening of the festival, wherethe 300 seats were promptly sold out. The director, Jan Langlo,opened the event together with Luca Di Vito, director of theItalian Culture Institute and currently president of EUNICNorway. A reception in the cinema's foyer followed the openingevent. The festival received film contributions from all thecomponents of EUNIC, namely the British Council, Norsk FinnKulturinstitutt, Goethe Institut, Institut Francais, and theembassies of Austria, Ireland, Romania, Spain and Sweden,together with the Italian Institute.
