(AGI) La Valletta, May 27 - A presentation of the XXI Triennale di Milano International Exhibition, geared to promoting Italian design, has been held at the Italian Institute of Culture in La Valletta, Malta. With the help of videos, La Triennale General Director Andrea Cancellato took the audience on a journey through time and space, illustrating the main stages in the history of the exhibition. These included rare period images, showing the fundamental role played by the event since its foundation in 1923 to the present day. The 21st edition focuses on the subject "XXI Century. Design after Design." As Mr Cancellato explained, the exhibition endeavours to explore the great spreading of design skills around the world in tandem with a developing global market, as well as the multi-disciplinary nature of design, the breaking down of disciplinary boundaries between architecture, urban planning, design, the visual arts, communication etc., and the new relationships between these different disciplines. Salvatore Schirmo is Director of the Italian Institute of Culture in La Valletta. (AGI).
