(VELINO) Roma, 30 Jun - The Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro and the Argentine PROA Foundation are presenting the exhibition "Art on stage: Works from the Collection of the MAXXI National Museum of 21st Century Arts,", which will open on June 5, 2016. This will be the first time that some of the Italian museum's collection will appear in Latin America. The MAXXI opened in 2010 and was designed by architect Zaha Hadid (1950 to 2016). Curated by Anna Mattirolo, the exhibition will show off the large and diverse Italian collection, which focuses on the diversity of contemporary languages, ranging from Arte Povera to the use of technology. It includes photographs, drawings, paintings, prints, installations and videos, as well as plastic and architectural projects. Nineteen artists will be on display until Sept. 11, 2016: Mario Airo', Carlo Aymonino, Matthew Barney, Maurizio Cattelan, Gino De Dominicis, Massimiliano e Gianluca De Serio, Gilbert & George, Danilo Guerri, Ilya Kabakov, William Kentridge, Armin Linke, Luigi Ontani, Yan Pei-Ming, Michelangelo Pistoletto, Aldo Rossi, Grazia Toderi and Francesco Vezzoli. Along the path of the exhibition built like theatrical stage and divided into four rooms, stand the monumental installation of the artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov, charcoals by the provocative Gilbert & George, the technical perfection of architectural restoration projects by Danilo Guerri, the photographs of Maurizio Cattelan, Armin Linke and Grazia Toderi, the prelude to Arte Povera of Michelangelo Pistoletto, the "invisible" sculpture of Gino De Dominicis, the paintings of Yan Pei-Ming and the emblematic clock of Luigi Ontani. The event is sponsored by the Italian Embassy in Brasilia and the Italian Institute of Culture in Rio de Janeiro and is part of the "Year of Italy in Latin America", sponsored by the Farnesina in partnership with the Ministries of Culture and Tourism, Economic Development, the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), the Conference of Rectors of Italian Universities and with the contribution of many companies. vel
