(VELINO) Roma, 25 Jul - The Italian diplomatic network is at work in Argentina to promote Brand Italy via a host of ad-hoc initiatives ahead of two major events: a promotion mission focusing on the energy sector and a country presentation. The mission will take place in December in Buenos Aires as part of the WTO Ministerial Conference. The country presentation of Argentina is scheduled to take place in Italy during the first six months of 2018. Moreover an Investment Promotion Forum was recently held in Bahia Blanca, which was attended by the representatives of the most prominent local institutions and industrial groups operating in the region, including: the Secretary for Internaitonal Relations of the Province of Buenos Aires, Diego Cagliolo; the Mayor of Bahia Blanca, Hector Gay; the economic and trade attache' of the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires, Francesco Capecchi; the Consul General in Bahia Blanca, Antonio Petrarulo, and Antonio Pietrarulo and Pablo Piras of the Italian trade Agency-ICE in Buenos Aires. The southern portion of the province of Buenos Aires offers great opportunities: Bahia Blanca has the deepest port in Argentina and is the headquarters of a petrochemical hub, which provides 60% of the sector's national production. It is also setting out to become a strategic area for wind energy and will be the hub for the production, logistics and distribution of the shale extracted from the Vaca Muerta wells. Besides the Forum, new initiatives will be launched in the near future, such as a workshop on renewable energy sources and the environment, which will take place in Ushuaia, in Tierra del Fuego, next March. The Forum, co-organized by the Italian Embassy in Buenos Aires and the Italian Consulate in Bahia Blanca, will have a two-fold goal: enhancing the already excellent academic relations between Italian and Argentinian universities and research centres and promoting Italian companies interested in developing new technologies and expanding their market. The Ushuaia workshop has a strategic value since the scientific advances that could be achieved in the extreme weather conditions and at the latitudes of Argentina's southernmost province could be put to practical use in conditions with less complex geo-physical characteristics. vel
