(VELINO) Roma, 13 Jul - The Italian Embassy, together with the Institute for Education of Washington, hosted an event on the civilian use of drones. Special attention was focused on the application of these technologies on the two shores of the Atlantic in sectors such as agriculture, civil protection, internal security, journalism and the media. "I'm particularly happy of this event on a topic like that of drones, which are bound to have a significant impact on several areas of the economy and on different aspects of our everyday life," said Italian Ambassador to the United States, Armando Varricchio. He continued: "The initiative is part of a well-articulated commitment that the Italian Embassy and diplomatic and consular network in the United States is carrying forward in issues that are strategic for our bilateral cooperation, such as innovation, research and technology." The event consisted of a demo and a discussion panel with Italian and American experts (from Dronitaly and Aviation Works), moderated by the Special Assistant to President Obama for Economic and Technology Policy, David Edelman. vel
