(VELINO) Roma, 7 Sep - Italian comedy will be featured in Israel's cinemas in the form of a tribute to Alberto Sordi thanks to a collaboration between the ADAMAS Cultural Association (Rome-Tel Aviv) and the Italian Cultural Institutes in Tel Aviv and Haifa, under the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Israel and with the support of Istituto Luce Cinecitta' Filmitalia and Cineteca Nazionale di Roma. Nine films starring Alberto Sordi, one of Italian cinema's most famous actors and the icon of "Romanness", will be screened in movie theatres in Tel Aviv, Haifa, Jerusalem, Herzliya, Holon and Sderot. The programme will present digitally restored versions of films that haven't appeared on Israel's screens for decades: "The Widower" by Dino Risi; "Bravissimo" by Luigi Filippo D'Amico; "An American in Rome" by Steno; an episode from the film anthology "Complexes"; "In Prison Awaiting Trial" by Nanni Loy; "Will Our Heroes Be Able to Find Their Friend Who Has Mysteriously Disappeared in Africa?", by Ettore Scola; "Girls for the Summer" by Gianni Franciolini; "Il marito" (The husband) by Nanni Loy; and "Vacanze intelligenti", an episode of the anthology "Where Are You Going on Holiday" that Sordi directed and starred in. Two films kept in Jerusalem's film archive will also be shown in Tel Aviv in connection to the tribute to Sordi: "Romanzo di un giovane povero" by Ettore Scola; and "I Know That You Know That I Know", directed by Sordi himself. The screenings will run from Wednesday, 14 September to Friday, 30 September. vel
