(VELINO) Roma, 21 Sep - Italy and Bosnia and Herzegovina have strengthened their cooperation in the judicial sector following a visit to Rome by a top-level delegation of the "High Judicial and Prosecutorial Court" (HJPC), led by its president, Milan Tegeltija. The mission is part of a project co-financed by TAIEX (Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission) and Italy's Ministry of Interior. "The HJPC, the Bosnian equivalent of our Superior Council of the Judiciary, is a key institution for the consolidation of the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina," affirmed Italy's Ambassador in Sarajevo, Ruggero Corrias. He went on: "Italy wishes to be a key partner in this process and, in this perspective, a visit to Rome was organised for a high-level delegation of the HJPC. Over the next five days, Bosnian magistrates will be able to visit the Superior Council of the Judiciary and other Italian judicial institutions, such as the Court of Cassation and the National Antimafia Directorate. The visit will offer the opportunity to exchange experiences on procedures and training, as well as on the National Antimafia Directorate's working methods and IT solutions to fight organised crime." Moreover, Ambassador Corrias reaffirmed Italy's readiness to assist Bosnian judicial authorities in the consolidation of the rule of law in a manner consistent with European standards, and emphasised the importance of the HJPC delegation's visit in order to share expertise with Italy's main judicial institutions, especially the Superior Council of the Judiciary and the Court of Cassation. vel
