(VELINO) Roma, 3 Aug - The Italian Consulate General in Rio de Janeiro hosts "Sportsystem Made in Italy" on August 4. The event was organised by the Italian Trade Agency (ICE) with the Italian National Association of Sporting Goods Manufacturers (Assosport) and the patronage of the Italian Embassy in Brasilia and the Consulate General in Rio. The latest Italian sports products, trends, and technology will be showcased at the Consulate General. "Sportsystem Made in Italy" covers clothing, accessories, and equipment for numerous sports, including: athletics, boxing, cycling, football, swimming, motorcycling and tennis. The event is part of promotions carried out by ICE and Assosport. It has often been held in conjuction with large international sports events, such as the 2012 Olympics in London, the Winter Games in Sochi in 2014, and the European Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2015. The Italian sporting goods industry includes more than 700 businesses with more than 30,000 employees, and a yearly revenue of around 12 billion euros. This is also based on Italy's excellent results in sports competitions: with a total of 550 medals, 199 gold, Italy ranks sixth in the world for number of medals won during summer Olympic Games. vel
