(VELINO) Roma, 5 May - From mathematics to space exploration, from the infinite worlds of Giordano Bruno to the writings of Dante Alighieri. These are the central topics of the conference "Do zero ao Infinito: da matematica a's ciencias aplicadas passando pela literatura e a filosofia", to be held in the Auditorium of the Institute of Letters of the UnB in Brasilia on 15 May. The event is organised by the Department of Italian Studies "G. Tomasi di Lampedusa" of the Institute of Letters of the University of Brasilia (UnB) in partnership with the Italian Embassy. The presentations will delve into the mathematical thought of Fibonacci, leading to the discoveries of Italian and Brazilian researchers in the aerospace sector, through the thought, poetry and literature of Giordano Bruno, Giacomo Leopardi and Dante Alighieri, to the Pythagorean philosophers of Greece, including Philolaus of Croton. Thanks to the coordination of the Lecturer of the Department of Italian Studies of the UnB, Andreina Di Vittori, and to the support of the cultural office of the Italian Embassy, Brazilians will be able to get to know another Italian point of excellence in the world: the extremely dynamic and fertile pool of Italian university professors and researchers. The meeting is the second event in the cycle of conferences scheduled this year for Brazilian students, scholars and Italy lovers. The cycle was opened on 28 April by Professor Franco Trabattoni of the University of Milan, who guided the audience through a philosophical journey on the finiteness of Man and the infiniteness of research in Plato and Aristotle. vel
