(VELINO) Roma, 22 Aug - The Italian Consul General in Vancouver, Massimiliano Iacchini, together with the Economic and Commercial Attache' Marco Schiavoni, who also heads the Consulate's Navigation Office, visited the ship "Island Princess" last Friday . Among their various activities, Italian Consulates have the same powers and functions held by the Italian Maritime Authority within national borders, which include a number of administrative and navigational duties and powers regarding Italian vessels abroad and their crews. During the visit, the two Consular Officers met with the Italian personnel on board, including Captain Mariano Manfuso and Chief Engineer Officer Vito Torre, and learned of the commendable work carried out the ship's Senior Officers and its numerous Italian crew members. The "Island Princess" belongs to Princess Cruises, a line owned by the Carnival Corporation whose fleet is largely made up of cruise ships built by Italian ship-building company Fincantieri. vel
