(VELINO) Roma, 21 Jun - The "Amabili Resti" exhibition by local artist Iris Broquedis has opened in Santiago de Chile. The event, organised by the Italian Institute of Culture, is part of "Incontri 1" (Encounters 1), a one-year exhibition project under the patronage of the Consejo de la Cultura y de las Artes that aims to develop a multidiscipinary creative track for Italian-Chilean cultural exchanges, through five different exhibitions and curatorial viewpoints. The central theme of "Amabili Resti" will be the migration flows between Italy and South America. The artist created garments out of handmade paper, decorated by pieces of printed texts and needlework based directly on that age of transoceanic migrations when various Italian groups (Iqique, Valparaiso, La Serena, Concepcion) arrived in Chile. Both the exhibition and the "Incontri 1" project are also part of the initiatives for the Year of Italy in Latin America, promoted by the Italian foreign ministry with the collaboration of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Italian Trade Agency (ICE), the Conference of Deans of Italian Universities, and the contribution of numerous businesses. The main goal is to promote Italy's identity and talents in Latin America. vel
