(VELINO) Roma, 5 Jul - The Italian Embassy in Berlin continues its "Open-air Cinema" cycle of film screenings. On 10 July, "Matrimonio all'italiana"("Marriage Italian Style", 1964) by Vittorio De Sica, starring Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni, will be screened from 10 to 11:45 p.m. Filumena Marturano is a very young prostitute and Don Domenico Soriano is a well-off country gentleman. The two meet in a brothel during a bombing raid and the man, moved and fascinated, turns her into his long-standing lover. But Filumena is not satisfied and, one day, feigns death to make him marry her on her death-bed. After her trick is disclosed, she again surprises her husband by telling him that she is the mother of three young boys, one of whom is his own son, but refuses to tell him which. While he attempts to find out, Domenico finds out that he is actually the happy father of all three sons. Vittorio De Sica is the right man to take this snapshot of post-war life in Naples and Sophia Loren is the right woman to bring on stage this rare charge of physicality and despair, confirming her talent for touching the innermost chords of people's emotions. vel
