(VELINO) Roma, 29 Jun - Lima's Auditorium Pier Paolo Pasolini will host, on 4 July, an Italian documentary film entitled "Radici, l'altra faccia dell'immigrazione" [Roots, the other face of immigration], by Italian journalist Davide Demichelis. The event has been organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Lima in collaboration with ProgettoMondo Mlal. The docufilm features a long journey from the Pacific Ocean to the Andes, from Lima's fashionable waterfront to Peru's gold mines situated 5000 metres above sea level. Maribel Nunez, a Peruvian immigrant in Verona, guides Davide Demichelis in his discovery of Peru and introduces her family to him. Maribel and Davide climb the Andes to meet the communities of Casapalca, San Mateo and La Oroya. Their journey continues to Cuzco, the ancient capital of the Kingdom of the Incas. The journalist becomes acquainted with the long-standing traditions of grandma Antonia's family and attends a funeral ceremony at Chincheros in the fields, where 300 different types of potatoes and 10 varieties of corn are grown. "Radici" is a project supported by the Italian Ministry of the Interior and the European Fund for the Integration of Third-Country Nationals. The screening of the docufilm will be followed by a brief discussion featuring Davide Demichelis and Maribel Nunez. vel
