(VELINO) Roma, 19 Jun - Pianist Christian Leotta will perform his first concert in Colombia with the Philharmonic Orchestra of Medellin on Friday, 23 June, in the Teatro Metropolitano. The event is co-organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in Bogota and Filarmed. "For me it will be a great honour to play with Maestro Guerassim and the Philharmonic Orchestr" said Christian Leotta, an outstanding specialist in Beethoven sonatas with which he has toured the world collecting great acclaim. The pianist will perform "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Musorgsky and L. Van Beethoven's piano Concerto No. 4, which was composed between 1805 and 1806 and was played by Beethoven himself at the piano in a debut performance at the Vienna Theatre in 1807. This concerto stands out from all of Beethoven's other concertos for a particular trait: the beginning of the first movement is exclusively entrusted to the piano, marking the very first time that the opening movement announcing the theme is not assigned to the orchestra. In addition to being an innovative aspect in the work of the Bonn-born composer, it is also the last major innovation introduced to the structure of concertos in the classical period. vel
