Palermo - During the 4th edition of Tour d'Europe, a brokerage event which won the Best Practice Award EEN in 2016, here were some of the innovative food products which 84 exhibitors from the four corners of the world offered to 20 Sicilian agrifood firms: vegetable caviar with rosemary or lavander scent to snail caviar; torrone sweetened with fir vinegar stevia; goat cheese produced in Andalusia, already awarded a gold medal as the best dairy product in the world; champignon-flavoured chocolate; the first non-alcoholic and non-fermented wine produced in southern France; and an exclusive champagne produced by BretonFils.
The event was held in Palermo on the premises of Sicindustria. There were 120 one-to-one, 30-minute meetings, which translated into partnerships or trade agreements between Sicilian buyers and top producers of food and beverages from Bulgaria, Croatia, Denmark, France, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Poland, Portugal Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Great Britain. The event was organised by Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), of which Sicindustria is a partner, in collaboration with Sector Group Agrofood.
Among the buyers that participated in the event were: Andrea Melita's Passpartao (Messina), operating in the luxury food sector; Fratelli Contorno's food preserves company, based in Palermo; Palermo's Joygum, a distributor of snacks and counter confectionary products; Campodoro Villareale, a preserves company based in Sciacca; Picone winery and restauranteur Gigi Mangia, both from Palermo; Chef Giuseppe Costantino from Sclafani Bagni; the Consorzio Med Europe Export; Laboratori Dac from Catania, operating in the industry of chemical analysis of food products; and agents Nearco and Global Service from Palermo.
