Moscow - Italian Design Day in the world was successfully celebrated in Moscow. The event stems from an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with, among other institutions, the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and ICE (ItalianTrade Agency).
Italian Design Day took place during an evening function organised in the prestigious Villa Berg, home to the Italian Embassy in Moscow, which featured two symbols of Italian design, namely Damiani, the prestigious Italian jewelry brand, and Venini, the Murano glass manufacturer who recently landed on the Russian market. Recently, both companies have become part of the same group and presented to their audience a prestigious exhibit of the most significant objects they produce.
Giorgio Vigna, designer and architect of international renown, was the guest star of the event. Mr Vigna is the creator of some of Venini's pieces, a firm he has been collaborating with for the past 20 years. "Venini's work represents the genius who looks back to the past to build the future," said Ambassador Cesare Maria Ragaglini, introducing Mr Vigna's address during the event. Mr Vigna took the floor to present the development of his works and the sources of his inspiration.
