The event concluded on Tuesday at the exhibitionsite, with a conference that saw, among others, the presence ofItaly's Minister of Agriculture Maurizio Martina and ForeignMinister Paolo Gentiloni, who was publicly thanked by Petrini. He stressed in particular that Gentiloni's participation is asign that the minister has understood "the value of thediplomacy that there is in this room. You came to the UnitedNations of young farmers." He added, "This is a politicalassembly because if you start from those at the bottom you canchange politics. I haven't organised all of this meeting, butrather it is the result of the work of young people who, forthe first time, have set up an organisational machine."Speaking to the audience, Mr Petrini urged those present tobecome aware of their role: "You are the future, more thaneveryone who works in the noble art of communication, politicsand design. You are the complexity of culture; you areeconomics, history, and anthropology; you are part of humanitythat takes care of the complexity of food. We are alive becausewe eat and it is all to do with food. Make 'Terra Madre' yourhome. Let's build a non top-down organisation: the fewerstructures there are, the better we are." . .
