Meridiana makes 1, 634 staff redundant

(AGI) Olbia, Sept 15 - The boards of Meridiana Fly andMeridiana Maintenance have agreed to accelerate staff cuts andfleet changes. A communique was issued to the unions andrelevant institutions on Monday, confirming that redundancyprocedures had begun in relation to 1,478 employees consideredsurplus to Meridiana Fly requirements. These include 262pilots, 896 flight assistants and 320 ground staff. Another 156people will be made redundant by Meridiana Maintenance, many ofwhom have already been laid off. The measures mean thatMeridiana will be in a position to change its entire fleet toBoeing aircraft by the
