(AGI) Astana, June 22 - Kazakhstan has officially become the162nd member of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), it wasannounced on Monday. The country applied to become a memberwhen the organisation was set up in 1965. Terms were negotiatedwith WTO members on June 10 and the draft accession package wasapproved at a meeting on June 22. President NursultanNazarbayev said negotiations had taken 19 years, and thecountry's government had worked tirelessly to achieve its aim.He said membership would open up new horizons for the economyand allow more stable access to global markets, as well asoffering consumers a wider range of products and services.(AGI). .
