(AGI) Leghorn, Juy 2 - Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi has met themanagement and staff of the Leghorn refinery as part of thecompany's 'Programma Sicurezza Italia' safety informationcampaign. He visited the Taranto refinery last May on the firstleg of the Safety Road Show, one of Eni's major safety andtraining awareness initiatives. Mr Descalzi confirmed thepositive safety results achieved by Eni and the Leghornrefinery in 2014. A statement showed that the number ofaccidents had fallen for the 10th year running, accounting for0.31 accidents per million working hours, as demonstrated bythe many industrial facilities with zero accident trackrecords. Overall accident indices fell 14 percent compared with2013, and the first quarter of 2015 saw a further 15 percentimprovement. These results place Eni ahead of its leadinginternational competitors in terms of safety. Eni's commitmentto safety at a global level is also demonstrated by thepositive accident indicator trends at the Leghorn refinery,which has distinguished itself for its safety records,achieving its zero accident goal for around 400 employees forthree years running. The safety of people and operations is oneof Eni's strategic objectives, and the company continues tolaunch new awareness and training campaigns for staff,contractors and all its social partners. As well as the SafetyRoad Show, Eni's major campaigns include Eni in Safety, theSafety Day and the HSE Van Show. The HSE Van Show is the mostrecent of Eni's health and safety initiatives, launched at theLeghorn refinery on May 26. This is a travelling exhibition,calling in at 42 industrial facilities and many servicestations to promote Eni's commitment to safety and theenvironment. At the end of his visit, Mr Descalzi said: "Aswell as recognising and expressing my appreciation for thesafety results achieved by the staff at Leghorn, I repeat thecompany's intention to achieve zero accident and zerofatalities results. Safety is a fundamental value for thecompany and the focus of our strategies. It must involveeveryone, from the management down, because it is only bypulling together that we will be able to achieve the ambitiousyet crucial goals we have set ourselves." (AGI). .
