AlmavivA wins bid to sort out Schengen visas

(AGI) Rome, Sept 21 - AlmavivA, Italian leader in ICT, has wonthe contract to develop and manage the Schengen visa releasesystem, issued by the Foreign Affairs Ministry. The systemreaches out to Farnesina's foreign missions - embassies andconsulates - serving 163 offices across the world. The serviceincludes software development and maintenance, management ofthe applications and system, 24/7 expert support and help desks- all in line with the VIS (Visa Information System). The VISenables data exchange concerning entrance visas in the Schengenspace, as well as the streamlining of visa applications andborder control, and improved security measures. Italy used thissystem to release approximately 2.3 million visas in 2014. Itsenhancement envisages more extensive use of biometric data. "Bywinning this bid, AlmavivA has strengthened its presence withinthe ministry, where it has been serving for one year with theAccounting and Budgeting Integrated System. The companyconfirms its role as a technological partner of Farnesina, in astrategic sector at this time in history, with Expo currentlyongoing and the Jubilee year coming up," said Antonio Amati,General Manager of IT Division at AlmavivA. AlmavivA's new job- won against eleven competitors - is valued at 4.6 millioneuros. The contract will last 36 months and can be extended forthree years. . .
