(AGI) Beijing, Oct 18 - The 15th edition of the Week of theItalian Language in the World will start in Beijing on Mondayto promote Italian as the language of classical andcontemporary culture. The event is organised by the ItalianForeign Ministry and the Accademia della Crusca languageacademy, under the High Patronage of the President of theItalian Republic. The theme of this year's edition is "Italianin Music, the music of Italian" and it will begin with theperformance of a one-act play entitled "Galileo's Friend"("L'amico di Galileo"), freely drawn from the homonymous novelby Isaia Iannaccone, directed by art directors Anna Netto andWei Yi and staged at the Italian Culture Institute in Beijing.The author of the play will be present at the performance,which will be staged in collaboration with the ItalianDepartment of the University of Foreign Languages of Beijingand the Italian Ministry for Education, University andResearch. On October 20 there will be the screening of the film"Farinelli" by Gerard Corbiau and, on Oct. 21, a conferenceentitled "Italian Language and Identity", featuring ProfessorFederico Castigliano, will be held at the Beijing InternationalStudies University. On Oct. 22, the programme envisagesthe presentation, by Marta Valentini of Milan's ConfuciusInstitute and Franca Bosc of the University of Milan, of thetrilingual Dictionary of Food (Italian, English and Chinese),published by Edizioni Plan and the Academia Universal Press. OnOct. 23, the Italian Culture Institute will screen the film"Piano, solo" directed by Riccardo Milani. (AGI) . .
