(AGI) Cernobbio, March 13 - Greece's finance minister, YanisVaroufakis, said at a press conference in Cernobbio on Fridaythat he is "certain the ECB will do everything possible topreserve the euro's indivisibility". Varoufakis also expressedhis hope that the new Greek government "will not be treateddifferently from the previous one" by the European CentralBank, which in the summer of 2012 raised the threshold for theissuance of state bonds, with Draghi affirming that theinstitution would do everything necessary. "We are facing asimilar situation to that of 2012, and it would be positive ifthe ECB showed the same flexibility," Varoufakis said. "Greeceis a member of the European Union, it is part of theindivisible single currency zone and is not seeking outsidehelp," he stated in response to a question regarding possiblesupport for Greece from Russia and China. "Our negotiations area matter that must be resolved within the EU. Greece is notlooking for any kind of support. I completely reject the ideaof working outside alliances; Europe must find answers to itsproblems with its own strength. Our aim is to put Europe'sinterests first." Varoufakis then noted that his government"did not promise everything to everyone". "They depicted usthat way, but we did not promise a single euro to those whomake over 700 euros. There are only small increases to minimumpensions and small payments to those below the poverty line. Wedid not promise anything to the middle segment; for them, whether on the high part or the low, there will be highertaxes.". .
