(AGI) New York, Aug 28 - American business tycoon Donald Trump,who continues to lead the race for the Republican party's U.S.presidential nomination, has reportedly placed an offer to buythe San Lorenzo de Almagro football club in Buenos Aires, ofwhom Pope Francis is a renowned and avid fan. The news wasreported on Friday by The New York Post, citing confidentialsources in Trump's staff, who said Trump's business partnerAlessandro Proto is also in on the acquisition offer. Accordingthe tabloid, Trump's move might be an attempt to win over aslice of Catholic support. San Lorenzo's Vice-President andArgentine TV host Marcelo Tinelli, however, dismissed thereports as "totally crazy". "San Lorenzo belongs to its membersand IS NOT FOR SALE," Tinelli affirmed, adding: "In any case, Iprefer Donald Duck, he's more serious". Trump and Proto havevied for football clubs in the past: they reportedly offered100 million dollars to buy the Colombia's Atletico Nacional,but gave up on the venture after the club's counter-offer of150 million dollars.
