(AGI) Rome, June 5 - A selfie posted on social media by anunwitting militant allowed U.S. forces to identify and bomb thelocation of an ISIS base, U.S. Air Force General HebertCarlisle revealed after the operation. Islamic State, however,continues to strengthen its hold on Al-Hasakah, capital city ofthe homonymous north-eastern Syrian governorate. ISIS militantsseized an electricity plant and an uncompleted prison held byloyalist Syrian forces south of the city, jihadist sourcesclaimed. A thin strip held by government forces is reportedlyall that remains between ISIS troops and the city's urbanperimeter just a kilometre away. Islamic State claims weredenied by the Syrian regime, which asserted that the situationon the ground is "excellent". ISIS militants inLibya, meanwhile, have kidnapped 86 Eritrean refugees,Christians in all probability. This news was announced by MeronEstefanos, human rights activist and founder of theStockholm-based International Commission on Eritrean Refugees,on the British website IBTimes. A 19-year-old Russian girlattempting to cross into Syria with the presumed intention ofjoining ISIS was arrested by Turkish border police on Friday.(AGI). .
