(AGI) Cairo, June 7 - Italy will meet the requests of Libya'snew national unity government, said Italian Foreign Minister,Paolo Gentiloni during a press conference at the end of atrilateral meeting with Algerian and Egyptian counterparts inCairo on Sunday. "On their part, Libyans will have tounderstand that objecting to a diplomatic solution of thecrisis is a very serious decision for the Libyan people becauseit has no alternative options," added Mr Gentiloni. Hecontinued: "I think that everybody is aware that time is notunlimited and that during the next couple of weeks, we couldmiss many of the opportunities to reach an agreement (betweenthe two Libyan factions). I see this awareness growing and Ihope that the drive coming Italy, Egypt and Algeria, and thatwill also be forthcoming from the G7 and other countries, willbe strong enough to finally induce the Libyans to understandthat an agreement is in their own interest." The message tolaunch to the Libyan fronts at the end of Sunday's meeting isto "unite and comply with the mediation attempts of the UnitedNations," he explained. "Within the next two weeks, we need toreach a result if we want to put our stakes on a national unitygovernment," Mr Gentiloni said. He added: "The stabilisation ofLibya is one of our time's biggest problems and time is not anindependent variable, it is essential." (AGI) . .
