The EU's Humanitarian Aid Commissioner,Christos Stylianides, who has returned to Brussels following amission in West Africa, said efforts must increase to "contain,control, treat and ultimately defeat this virus". The new fundswill finance sanitation missions on the field, facilitate theevacuation of contaminated medical personnel, and help nationsneighbouring Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Guinea to set up thenecessary measures to stem the epidemic. The EU is alsoinvolved in the search for a vaccine, and the Commission hasset 280 million euros aside for it. The results of the firstphase of experiments are expected in December. (AGI) .
