(AGI) St. Petersburg, June 19 - Sanctions against Russia mayhave cost the European Union up to 100 billion dollars,Russia's President Vladimir Putin affirmed on Friday at theInternational Economics Forum in St. Petersburg. "Our Europeanpartners have run various calculations," he said. "Some spokeof 40 to 50 billion dollars in losses for European partners. The last data I heard from Europe indicates that the lossescould come close to 100 billion dollars." Putin blamed "globaldecisions" rather than local conflicts for the current threatof another Cold War, and denounced the U.S.'s decision towithdraw from the Anti-Ballistic Missile Treaty (ABM).Responding to questions regarding Russia's role in theUkrainian crisis, the Kremlin leader once again urged the Westto push Kiev towards solving the crisis "together". Thesituation "cannot be resolved unilaterally", he stated, addingthat accusations against Russia's "necessary influence in thesouth-east" have become a "mantra". "It is not possible tosolve the problem helped by our influence alone. Influence mustbe exerted on Kiev's current authorities as well, but we cannotbe the ones who do this. It's up to our western partners topursue that path," he concluded. . .
