(AGI) Rome, Feb 26 - Italian Education Minister StefaniaGiannini and the Chinese ambassador in Italy, Li Ruiyu,participated in the celebrations for the Chinese New Yearorganised by the Confucius Institute in Rome and the ConvittoNazionale school. Chinese language students at theinternational school celebrated the beginning of the year ofthe Goat with the event "Music that links Italy and China."This show included singing, dancing and comedy sketches inMandarin performed before a large audience of publicrepresentatives and parents. The aim of the event was tostrengthen cultural ties between Italy and China, to show theinterest of the Convitto Nazionale school in the Chineselanguage and to attract future students as ideal candidates toact as a "bridge between the two cultures in the coming years",said the Chinese ambassador at the end of the event. AddressingRector Paolo Reale and former Rector Emilio Fatovic, theambassador said: "I am impressed by the fluency of yourstudents. They speak (Chinese) even better than me." He praisedthe skill of the school's teachers, led by Francesco Alario,who teach standard Mandarin Chinese. . .
