(AGI) - Karachi (Pakistan), March 3 - Indian Foreign SecretarySubrahmanyam Jaishankar said Pakistan and India have agreed tonarrow down their differences as he arrived in Islamabad on anofficial visit on Tuesday. The visit is seen as a first majorstep towards resumption of stalled dialogue between the twonuclear-armed neighbors in South Asia. The primary agenda forthe secretaries' meeting was about promoting regionalconnectivity and trade. "This visit provided an opportunity todiscuss bilateral relations," the Indian foreign secretary saidafter meeting his counterpart. He added ensuring peace andtranquility along the Line of Control (in the disputed Kashmirregion) and Working Boundary (border between the two countries)was vital. Tasnim Alsman, Pakistan's Foreign Officespokesperson has called the visit as an ice-breakingdevelopment. She added Pakistan hoped this process lead to theresumption of the composit dialogue. Pakistan and India hadlast held the formal round of talks on September 8, 2012. Sincethen, efforts were made several times to hold the next round oftalks but in vain. India cancelled the last plannedsecretaries' dialogue on the pretext that Pakistani HighCommissioner in Delhi had consulted Kashmiri leaders. Pakistan cites Kashmir as the core issue of dispute withIndia. Islamabad has repeatedly vowed its support forseparatists in the Indian Administered Kashmir. (AGI).
