(AGI) Abidjan, Oct. 8 - The campaign for the presidentialelection of Oct. 25 starts on Friday in Ivory Coast. Outgoingpresident Alassane Ouattara is favourite to win. With afragmented opposition, another post-election crisis like thatof 2010-2011 looms. The country needs credible and transparentelections for its stability, after the violence that followedOuattara's victory over his rival Laurent Gbagbo in 2010. Ouattara is confident that Ivory Coast's rapid economic growthwill keep him in the saddle. Alassane Ouattara, nicknamed"Ado", will open the campaign in Yamaoussoukro, theadministrative capital of the country and birthplace of the"founding father" of Ivory Coast, Felix Houphouet-Boigny. Some6.3 million inhabitants will be called to vote on Oct. 25, outof a population of 23 million. Security is provided by 34,000soldiers of whom 6,000 are UN peacekeepers. (AGI). .
