Italy committed to fighting online paedophilia

Online networks and social media have contributed tothe present-day transnational nature of crimes againstchildren, and cooperation between internet companies,governments and police needs strengthening, he said. As amember of the EU and as chair of the EU Council, Italy isactively involved in anti-paedophilia cooperation.Domestically, investigations into sex crimes against childrenleverage cooperation between Italy's postal police and an adhoc internet paedophilia task force. On the internationalfront, Italy recently played a key role in Operation"Inglorious": the Turin-based investigation pooled Eurojust,Interpol, FBI, Canadian and Australian resources, leading tothe arrest of more than 60 people in Europe and worldwide.(AGI) .
