Italian jazz duo perform tribute to art movement in Sydney

(AGI) Sydney, Sept 22 - Jazz duo Andrea Pellegrini and MirkoGuerrini will perform the eighth concert in the "Vivacissimo!"series on Oct. 8 at the Italian Cultural Institute in Sydney.The inspiration for their Macchiaioli Project came from thepaintings of the Tuscan Macchiaioli, an Italian art movement ofthe 19th and 20th centuries. These painters were skilled inrendering the impressions received from an object using strongcontrasts of light and shadow obtained not just through drawingand chiaroscuro, but also with the combination of differentcolour tones. Andrea Pellegrini, born in Genoa in 1963, isa pianist, composer, arranger, conductor and teacher. Inaddition to teaching jazz and holding numerous seminars in manymusic schools and universities in Italy and abroad, he formedand conducted for 10 years the Jazz Orchestra Atipica Bonamici"Group-One", of students and teachers of the Bonamici MusicSchool of Pisa. Mirko Guerrini was born in Florence in 1973,and is a jazz saxophonist, composer and arranger. He has workedand performed with internationally renowned artists such asStefano Bollani, Enrico Rava, Caetano Veloso, Dave Liebman,Peter Erskine, Billy Cobham and many others, performing at thebiggest international festivals, including Rio de Janeiro, SaoPaulo, Melbourne, New York, and Toronto. In addition to holdingseminars in international centres in Italy and abroad, he hasworked as a conductor with the Tuscany Regional Orchestra, thePerugia Soloists, the Campania Chamber Orchestra, the ArturoToscanini Orchestra, the Monash University Symphonic Orchestraand the Magna Grecia Orchestra, and is now the artisticdirector of the Teatro Ridotto Politeama di Prato theatre and alecturer at the Pietro Mascagni Musical Institute in Livorno.(AGI) . .
