Italian actress in London for 'brain drain' film premiere

(AGI) London, June 1 - Over 350 people, mainly Italiansresident in Britain, attended the British premiere of "Scusatese esisto!" (Sorry for existing!) in London on Sunday night.This film, directed by Riccardo Milani, stars Paola Cortellesias a young Italian victim of the "brain drain" who decides toreturn to Italy and deal with the difficulties of life in theBel Paese. Many of the scenes were shot on the banks of theThames and Ms Cortellesi was present at the screening on theinvitation of the CinemaItaliaUK festival. The festival,supported by the Italian Consulate and the Italian CulturalInstitute in London, screens leading Italian films at theGenesis cinema in the heart of the British capital every secondSunday. This initiative has been under way for some monthsthanks to the efforts of artistic director Clara Caleo Greenand the work of many young people. The film is "the storyof a professional who decides to return home and put what shehas learned to use," said the Rome-born actress, "a woman whothen has to come to terms with the injustices of the world ofwork in our country". Were it not for the "humorous tone" inwhich the film treats the issue the experience "would certainlybe unpalatable", Ms Cortellesi added. (AGI) . .
