(AGI) Tel Aviv, Oct 21 - Israel will celebrate Herbert Pagani,one of the most talented Italian artists in Libya's Jewishcommunity, with a special event on Saturday evening at thePeres Center for Peace in Jaffa. The commemorative "HerbertPagani: the Word, the Sign, the Song" event, scheduled duringthe XV Week of Italian Language in the World, will begin withthe inauguration of the "Uno squarcio nel cielo" exhibitcurated by Avi Pedatzur. A show featuring footage and witnessaccounts will follow, alongside a performance by Italiansingers of the caliber of Marco Ferrandini and Anna Jencek,with special participation by Miriam Meghnagi. The event wasorganised by the Italian diplomatic service in Israel, overseenby Ambassador Francesco Maria Talo', the World Organization ofLibyan Jews, with president Shimon Doron, and the ItalianCultural Institute in Tel Aviv. This year's edition of the Weekof Italian Language is dedicated to Italian in music as well asthe language's musicality, a perfect context to commemorate thebrief but intense life of the multi-faceted Pagani, whoexpressed himself through poetry, writing, sculpting, painting,music, and television, both in Italian and French. The event inhis honour will also serve to remember Pagani's efforts towardspeaceful coexistence in the Middle East, as well as anopportunity to explore the significant role played by theJewish community in Libya and its ties with its Italiancultural heritage.
