Inflation rises more than expected in Britain
(AGI) London, July 15 - Inflation in Britain unexpectedly roseby an annual 1.9 percent in June to a four-and-a-half-yearhigh, said Britain's Office for National Statistics on Tuesday.It was the steepest increase since January. Analysts hadforecast a 1.6 percent rise after the 1.5 percent increase inMay. The consumer price index was 0.2 percent higher on amonthly basis. Following the release of the inflation figuresthe value of the British pound rose to 1.7133 against the U.S.dollar, while it dropped to 79.435 from 79.755 against theeuro. (AGI) .
