Hollande popularity falls significantly

(AGI) Paris, Oct 25 - Some 84 percent of French people areagainst President Francois Hollande running in the 2017elections, with only 4 percent believing that he was the bestSocialist party candidate, a survey published in the Frenchdaily newspaper Le Parisien shows. The survey, carried out bythe Odoxa Institute illustrates the huge decline in thepresident's popularity, amid economic decline and a privatelife dogged by scandal. Two weeks before the end of hisfive-year mandate, Mr Hollande has become the lowest-ratedFrench President; only 63 percent of people were opposed to hispredecessor Nicolas Sarkozy

The survey, carried out bythe Odoxa Institute illustrates the huge decline in thepresident's popularity, amid economic decline and a privatelife dogged by scandal. Two weeks before the end of hisfive-year mandate, Mr Hollande has become the lowest-ratedFrench President; only 63 percent of people were opposed to hispredecessor Nicolas Sarkozy running again. The disaffection ofthe Left is particularly noticeable, with 71 percent of partysympathisers and 65 percent of party members opposed to himstanding for re-election. Only seven percent of FrenchSocialist Party (PSF) sympathisers would be prepared to votefor Mr Hollande were the presidential primaries to be held now.In contrast, 47 percent would support Martine Aubry and 36percent would support the current prime minister, Manuel Valls. .
