(AGI) Tel Aviv, May 22 - Tarantella, opera singing and the Expoevent will represent Italy and its cultural heritage during thecelebrations of Italy's anniversary as a republic. The Italiandiplomatic mission in Israel has set up a programme of eventsby the name "Italy and Israel: EXPOnential Partners" which willkick off on June 2 with a tarantella concert by the groupArakne Mediterranea, to take place in Hatachana, Jaffa's oldrailway station. The event will feature an outdoor dance, musicand singing performance, according to the best traditions ofSalento. On the same day, the Rabin Center will host theScientific Forum Italy-Israel focusing on health and medicine.Among the guests there will be Ruth Arnon from the WeitzmanInstitute and Marta Weinstock Rosin of the Hebrew University ofJerusalem, both winners of the Israeli Prize for Medicine, aswell as Sami Sagol, founder of the 'Sagol NeuroscienceNetwork'. On June 3, the Italian Embassy will give thetraditional reception, with Ambassador Francesco Maria Talowelcoming numerous guests from the cultural and institutionalcircles. On June 4, to close the celebrations, the Summer OperaFestival will be hosted in Masada, with a premiere of GiacomoPuccini's 'Tosca', directed by Daniel Oren. During thereception the diplomatic mission will present and promote theMilan Expo, Italian culture and its products, in a dedicatedspace called 'Salotto Italia'. (AGI).
