(AGI) Maputo, Sept 29 - It is necessary to shed light on theattack on Afonso Dhlakama, the leader of Mozambique's Renamo(National Resistence) opposition party, said the European Unionin a statement on Tuesday. "The two recent attacks which havetargeted Renamo leader Afonso Dhlakama, are detrimental to thecountry's stability, democratic progress and economicdevelopment," the statement said. The leader of Renamo hadescaped a shooting near Imchope, in central Mozambique, onSept. 26. The dynamic of the attack is still not clear. Thepolice claim that the armed security guards of Dhlakama'sconvoy opened fire on a minibus transporting civilians,convinced that it was attacking the convoy. Three Renamo partymembers killed the driver of the van and wounded three of itspassengers. A shootout started when the police intervened,killing nine of the convoy's guards. . .
