China mine fire kills 24 and leaves 52 injured
(AGI) Beijing, Nov 26 - A fire broke out in a mine in Fuxin, inthe northeastern province of Liaoning, China, killing 24 peopleand leaving 52 injured. The mine is run by the Hengda group, acompany controlled by the state-owned Liaoning Fuxin CoalCorporation. According to eye witnesses, the fire broke outaround 2.35 a.m. local time as coal dust caught fire due to anearth tremor (magnitude 1.6). Xinhua press agency reported thatrescue operations ended several hours later and were conductedby security forces. Some of the people injured are still incritical conditions. Mine incidents
