(AGI) Cape Town, Nov 27 - A buy a book campaign has beenlaunched to commemorate the first anniversary of the death offormer South African President Nelson Mandela's on Dec. 5. Thegovernment and the Nelson Mandela Foundation have asked peopleto maintain his values and buy books for underprivilegedchildren. The books will be donated to schools and libraries inpoor areas. Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini said:"We will use the first anniversary of Mandela's death to make acall to all South Africans, and the world, to keep his memoryalive by continuing efforts to ensure

Thegovernment and the foundation also organised other events tomark the day. There will be a ceremony at the Mandela statue onthe Union Buildings lawns for veterans of the struggle forfreedom and against apartheid. At 10 a.m. all churches, schoolsand mosques will observe three minutes of silence. (AGI).
