World's largest cruise ship takes to the water in France

(AGI) Saint-Nazaire (France), June 19 - The largest cruise shipin the world, the 'Harmony of the Seas', slipped into the seaon Friday off the west coast of France, where it has been underconstruction since September 2013 in the shipyards inSaint-Nazaire. Construction will be completed in the comingmonths. When finished it will weigh 227,000 tonnes and measure362 metres in length. The ship will have room for some 6,360passengers and 2,100 staff members. Some 2,500 people areare working on completion of the Harmony, which will require90,000 square metres of carpet and 500,000 litres of paint. Theship will join the fleet of Royal Caribbean International,which already owns the two largest cruise ships in the world:'Allure of the Seas' and 'Oasis of the Seas' at 225,000 tonnesa piece. The ship's first voyage is planned for May next year,a trip from Southampton in Britain to the Spanish city ofBarcelona.. .
